TDR’s new innovative step in environmental protection

Monday, March 15, 2010

Rovinj, March 15, 2010 – For the purpose of advancing the business operations in accordance with the highest standards of environmental protection, TDR ceased using cardboard for cartons of cigarettes. By packing cartons only in polypropylene cover TDR advances its manufacture in accordance with the expectations of the customers and the development of manufacture technology.

When TDR turns to modern packaging it will use 1.000 tons of cardboard less. For the production of 1 ton of cardboard 3.5 tons of cut woods are required, which makes such a decision a significant innovative step of TDR in environmental conscious business. Cutting down trees in natural woods reduces the green surfaces, which can cause serious ecological damages – cutting down trees requires the great consumption of energy and impairs the environment. In the process of cardboard production water is used as well, thus the new TDR packages of cigarettes cartons will also reduce the pollution of 9 millions of liters of water a year.

This is another innovative business step by which TDR is able to confirm its status of a company well aware of its role and responsibility in terms of protection of the environment and natural resources. TDR manufacturing plants in Kanfanar are an example of how all the principles of environmental protection can be implemented, and its technical and technological equipment and facilities provide the top quality manufacturing according to the rigorous environmental protection standards in the European Union. Well knowing their role and responsibility regarding protection of environment and natural resources, TDR is committed to manage all the manufacturing conditions responsibly and professionally, thereby reducing the impacts of their work on the environment to a minimum.
