TDR is expanding its operations to Serbia

Tuesday, 09th September 2008

Rovinj, 9th September 2008 – TDR, the leading cigarette manufacturer in South-eastern Europe, bought a 25 percent stake in Veletabak, one of the leading distributors in Serbia. Veletabak has also become the exclusive distributor of TDR’s products on the Serbian market.

By entering into the ownership structure of Veletabak, TDR has created prerequisites for better and more direct communication with retailers and has taken even closer approach to cigarette consumers.

With a view to additional broadening of the sales network, TDR has concluded a cooperation contract with the company Delta. TDR’s products will be on the shelves of the largest retail chain on the market of Serbia and Monte Negro, whose network covers more than 500 points of sale.

“Entry into these two important contracts is a prerequisite for future successful growth on the Serbian market. With the market share of 9,3 percent and annual sales of approximately two billion cigarettes, TDR is currently the third tobacco manufacturer on the Serbian market. We expect that launching of the existing and new products, further expanding of sales network and closer approach to the consumers, will increase our market share and revenues”, stated TDR Chief Executive Officer, Davor Tomašković.

TDR operates in Serbia through its subsidiary company Rovita Beograd, which employs 43 workers. The best-selling brand is Ronhill which is, according to results of recently conducted survey, the leading regional tobacco brand. On the Serbian market TDR is also present with brands Walter Wolf and York.
